Everest Trekking Region offers the most popular and highly demanding trekking trails in the world, since the travelers wish to make a trip to the highest point of the earth- Mt. Everest (8,848 m). The trekking to Everest region has been popular in the world after Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, scaled the summit on this highest peak in 1953 for the first time successfully. Mt. Everest is located in the north-east of the country in the Khumbu region, the home to the legendry and friendly Sherpa, one of the ethnic groups of people, who have earned their name and fame in the tourism sector primarily in the mountaineering. Mt. Everest is known as Sagarmatha in Nepali and Chomolungma in Tibetan language, and this great mountain lies between Tibet and Nepal border. Everest trekking area in Nepal is protected by the Sagarmatha National Park, which was established in 1976, covering an area of 1,148 square kilometers. It is enlisted in the World Heritage Site by UNESCO .It is the home to various species of birds, animals and flowering plants and it is still believed that the Himalayan Abominable Snowman, Yeti is seen in the Everest trekking area. Trekking to Everest region is tranquil with the surprising views of the Himalayan ranges. However , this region is also considered to be challenging due to several ascents and descents the problem associated with Mountain sickness Altitude Mountain Sickness (AMS). It is commonly known as the Altitude Mountain sickness. Above all, the major attraction to this region is Everest Base Camp (EBC). The places to explore here include Gorak Shep and Kala Patthar, the Cho La Pass, Gokyo and its lakes, Gokyo Ri, and the Renjo Pass to the villages of Thame, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Khumjung, Phakding and Monjo. From Kala Pattar you will have breathtaking views of Everest and other satellite peaks. Centuries-old Gompa, Monasteries, Mani walls, and Temples are spread all over of this region which will make you more spiritual. Everest region is naturally enriched with beautiful landscapes, hidden valleys, pristine forests, snow-melt Rivers, calm Lakes and eye-catching waterfalls which add more excitement in the journey. Everest region provides an excellent opportunity for trekkers to experience Sherpa culture, tradition and Buddhism. Trekkers have two options; either they can simply make a trip to Everest to and from Lukla by taking a scenic flight from Kathmandu or an overland drive to Jiri from Kathmandu and fly back from Lukla.
