Trip Overview

Overview

Timal Sailung is a newly opened, non- touristy  area trek to the east of Kathmandu Valley. This trek can be easily organized from Kathmandu. We make our departure up to Dolakha by bus and arrive at Mude Bazaar where we spend our first night. Next day we begin the trek past scattered villages and terraced fields dotted with tiny stone temples, with some steep ascents. You can see sunrise from Sailung Danda and the magnificent views of Everest, Gauri Shankar, Dorje Lakpa, Langtang range, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu and many other peaks Nepal. While trekking you will encounter several different ethnic groups of people and experience their socio-economic status, lifestyle and occupations. Most of the villages are inhabited by Tamang community. whose main occupation is agriculture. Tamang is an indigenous Buddhist community whose religion is a fusion of Buddhist Lamaism and Shamanist Bon culture. At  Timal village you can take  healing and other spiritual practices with Shamans. Shamans are said to treat ailments/illness by bringing misguided souls of dear persons to ameliorate illnesses of the problems afflicted villagers. Timal Sailung trek can be organized either full board camping or community lodge trek as per interest of the trekkers.
