Hinduism is the oldest living religion in the world. Taking Hindu pilgrimage tour in Nepal is to get a glimpse of the holiest Hindu shrines across the country. The spiritual journey connects the soul with the ultimate universal power and pay pure respects. In Nepal there are three kinds of Hindu pilgrimage sites representing Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Ma Shakti. Lord Shiva is regarded as the most powerful god of the Hindu pantheon and one of the godheads in the Hindu Trinity. Known by many names - Mahadeva, Mahayogi, Pashupati, Nataraja, Bhairava, Vishwanath, Bhava, Bhole Nath - Lord Shiva is perhaps the most complex of Hindu deities. Hindus recognize this by putting his shrine in the temple separate from those of other deities. According to Purans ( the most sacred religious book of Hindus ) Himalaya is believed to be abode of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parbati, divine consort. Hence there are many Pilgrimage sites related to Lord Shiva in Nepal. Pashupatinath Temple is the Holiest pilgrimage of Lord Shiva.
Lord Vishnu is the second god in the Hindu Trinity. The Trinity consists of three gods Brahma Vishnu and Shiva each of them is responsible for the creation of the creation, upkeep and destruction of the world. In Kathmandu reclining Budhanilkantha statue represents Hindu god Vishnu. Other important Ma Shakti-peeths are Pathibhara, Vindyavashini, Manakamana, Dakshinkali, Jogeshwori, etc. Such Ma Shakti-peeths are usually situated on the top of a mountain.
