Mt. Manaslu is the world’s eight highest mountain which lies at one of the most secluded valleys in the west- central region of Nepal. It could be the best option for those who want to climb topographically more varied and challenging 8,000m peak in Nepal. The mountain’s long ridges and valley glaciers offer several feasible approaches from different directions. Despite of having various routes to climb Mt.Manaslu, the south face is considered to be the most challenging. We begin the climbing expedition journey in a 6 hour drive from Kathmandu to Arughat and begins the expedition up to base camp. A helicopter flight can also be taken to and back from Manaslu expedition to shorten the length of trekking, but it will increase costs substantially.
In fact, 4 camps are required to climb the summit. The climbing follows a relatively straightforward route to the summit, which has few technical aspects. There are a few stretches of steep climbing and crevasses from Camp I to Camp II and some section of climbing is slippery due to snow along the route from Camp II to Camp III. There is a high chance of avalanches between Camp III and Camp IV. This Mountain was first climbed on 9 May, 1956 by Toshio Imanishi and Gyalzen Norbu, members of a Japanese expedition.
