Lumba Sumba trekking is a newly explored trekking route in eastern part of Nepal. The name of this trek was derived from the name of the Lumba Sumba peak(5200 m). During the trek through unique and beautiful terrain you will enjoy spectacular view of Kanchanjanga and Makalu Himalayan range. The culture and traditional lifestyle of different ethnic groups of people is worth experiencing in this trek.
You will walk through two of Nepal’s best preserved protected areas- the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area (KCA) and the Makalu Barun National Park(MBN) where different species of birds and wildlife including the endangered snow leopard and red panda are inhabited. Moreover you can also find alpine grasslands, dense temperate and subtropical forests and low river valley along the route. In addition to natural beauty, trekkers can explore cultural heritage sites like monasteries, chhortens, temples and praying wheels. It is a less touristic trekking area with no hotels. Therefore, only camping trek is possible for Lumba Sumba trekking. Local festivals observed by different ethnic people also add the flavor to make the trekking more interesting and livelier.
