Trip Overview

Overview

Lobuche peak is one of the popular trekking peaks in Khumbu (Everest) region of Nepal. The peak has an attractive summit and offers various routes for climbing. The normal route for climbing Lobuche is through southern ridge. The peak consists of several small summits and the true summit requires steep climbing on  snow and ice slopes through  the summit ridge. The base camp will be set up at 4950 m near a lake in a rocky hollow at the base of the glaciated South-West Face. From the base camp the route ascends to a high camp, and then further up rock scrambling to the glacier, which finally leads to the summit. The steeper section of the climb to the summit ridge, on the summit day, is required about 500 meters of rope. Lobuche Peak climbing is a bit challenging as compared to other climbing peaks. To climb and summit successfully one must be skilled in steep alpine climbing and the use of  ice axe, crampons, fixed rope techniques  on glaciated route. The views of Ama Dablam and Taboche from the summit are amazing.
