Langtang Gosainkunda trek combines the remote and spectacular valley of Langtang with discovery of the high mountain lakes at Gosainkunda. The trail is rugged and challenging as you walk through the beautiful Langtang National park towards the high altitude. Gosainkunda Lake is one of the major attractions of this trek as it is also locally known by a famous pilgrim Lake among the Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims. Located at 4380 meters above sea level, the visitors feel blessed to reach there, where Janai Purnima festival is held during the August full moon. Lauribina Pass (4610m) is the highest and thrilling pass of this trekking. The mountains scenery is incredible. Trekking to Langtang Gosainkunda begins with a 8-hour drive along the Trishuli River out of Kathmandu through Trishuli Bazaar and Dhunche to Syabrubesi, a beautiful village located at the very edge of the Langtang National Park. From Syabrubesi the first day trek starts following a peaceful country path that winds its way into the Langtang valley. We encounter the locals along the way. They live peacefully sustaining themselves from the fresh produce they grow and remain untouched from modern society.
While on trek we cross the river several times as we travel up along a gorge-like, lower section of the valley. We walk through oak and rhododendron forests and even cross glacial moraine on our way to the Tamang village of Langtang. In the spring, the trail becomes very much colorful with the blooming of rhododendron flowers.
