Overview

If you are coming to Nepal for the first time for trekking and want to experience a mix of Nepalese culture and nature within a short duration, Helambu Village Cultural trek can be the best option for you. Helambu village is culturally rich and worth visiting. This village is easily accessible by road from Kathmandu. Your journey begins with overland drive up to Sundarijal and then the trek begins through paddies terraces & evergreen forests of oak and rhododendron, spectacular landscapes with great Himalayan views in  a distance .You visit several Tamang and Sherpa settlements and meet friendly people with strong family & cultural ties . Along the trail you will also have a chance to visit a number of splendid Buddhist monasteries preserved by locals to keep their tradition alive. The people living in the Helambu village are the descendants of the Tibetan origin, they look like Tibetans and follow Buddhism.

Helambu Village is mostly dominated by Yolmo community and every year many trekkers visit this spectacular village to enjoy the warm hospitality of Yolmo people. Unlike other routes, this route is less crowded and free from noise pollution. Apart from Helambu Village, some other popular tourist sites along the trail worth exploring are Shermathang, Nigale Dada, Tarke Ghyang, Melanching Village, Kutumsang, Ghopte Ghyang, Timbu, Kakani and Ghangyul.
