The Annapurna sanctuary is a stunningly beautiful open-air area situated North West of Pokhara
just beneath the immense south face of Annapurna. It is a low altitude risk-bearing base camp ringed by enormous peaks with superb mountains view. Any trekker can easily reach there without worrying much about altitude sickness. The trail passes through cultivated fields and beautiful forests of oak, magnolia and rhododendron before arriving at the ridge of Ghorepani for overnight stay. We make an early morning ascent of Poon Hill (3210m) to see the spectacular sunrise view over the Himalaya. On the way to Annapurna base camp we will visit two prominent villages of Chomrong and Landrung both are permanently inhabited by Gurung ethnic groups of people of Nepal. Beyond Hinko Cave., we will enjoy excellent views of Annapurna South and Machapuchare. After spending overnight at Chomrong, we climb uphill through the gates of the Sanctuary. The Annapurna sanctuary trek can be organized throughout the year.
The best time to visit Annapurna Base Camp is spring and autumn. In the spring the trek gets more spectacular as the whole forest along the route turns colorful with red, pink and white rhododendron flowers.
